
Deborah M. Henson, LCSW, JD, LL.M. (MSW – Tulane, 1977; JD – Loyola, 1991; LL.M. – University of California, Berkeley, 1993), moved to Austin in September 2006 from New Orleans as a result of Hurricane Katrina. In the summer of 2008, Deb returned to New Orleans. She was admitted to the State Bar of Louisiana in 1991 and to the State Bar of Texas in 2006. She is also admitted to the United States Supreme Court and the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Deb worked for a small Austin firm and wrote for several solo practitioners following Katrina in the areas of business, construction and commercial litigation. Deb also assisted with appellate and pre-trial writing in a myriad of Texas real estate matters, including condemnation cases, easements, and various residential construction fiascos.
Deb as has re-opened her law office in New Orleans offering legal research and writing services and representation in attorney and mental health disciplinary matters.

In Louisiana, Deb clerked for Chief Justice Pascal F. Calogero of the Louisiana Supreme Court directly after law school and then, four years later, for a Senior Associate Justice (Harry T. Lemmon) at the Louisiana Supreme Court from 1996-98. While at the Louisiana high court, she assisted in numerous bar opinions (i.e., final discipline for attorneys) for the court.
After obtaining her LL.M., Deb taught Legal Analysis & Writing for two years at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. Subsequently, Deb served as Board Counsel at the Louisiana Attorney Disciplinary Board for two years and has represented attorneys in defending client complaints. She also provides ethics and risk prevention consultation, and has lectured and written articles concerning the prevention of disciplinary complaints and professionalism.
For the two years prior to Katrina, Deb practiced appellate litigation for the City of New Orleans Law Department as the appellate brief-writer (Assistant City Attorney). She currently writes appellate and pre-trial briefs on a contract basis for attorneys in Louisiana. and Texas. See Appellate and Pre-Trial Research/Writing.
